Katherine Mueller

.Katherine Mueller received her Bachelor of Music degree from Susquehanna University,  Master of Music in vocal Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music  and a Master of Music in Conducting at Carnegie Mellon University with Robert Page.

Ms. Mueller taught choral music for seven years in the Ipswich, Massachusetts public schools, where she was also the Director of Fine Arts. She established the Ipswich Community Chorus, and was Minister of Music at First Church, Ipswich.

In 2003, she came to Pittsburgh to study with Robert Page at Carnegie Mellon University, where she conducted full performances of Sondheim’s Merrily We Roll Along, Rossini’s L’italiana in Algeri, and Berstein’s Candide.

In 2004 Ms. Mueller prepared a women’s chorus for the Pittsburgh Ballet’s production of Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and was alto soloist in Bach’s Magnificat, performed jointly by the Mendelssohn Choir, the Pittsburgh Ballet, and the Pittsburgh Symphony.

Ms. Mueller sang the role of Beatriz in January 2005 in the world premiere of Leonardo Balada’s opera La Muerte de Colón, which was recorded for Naxos Records.

Ms. Mueller served as Assistant Conductor of the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh from 2005-2007. In addition to her duties as Music Director of the Pittsburgh Concert Chorale, she is a member of Chorus America and the Conductor’s Guild.
